I recently looked at all of my domain sales from the past year and noticed one thing in common: Almost all of the names sold were 12 characters or less. It reaffirms what many in the domain industry already knew: Short domain names sell better.
For one, short domain names are easier to remember. It’s somewhat obvious but a shorter domain name has less letters to memorize than a longer one. Secondly, it’s easier to type a shorter domain name than a longer one. Also, a shorter domain name is just cooler to look at than a longer one. For instance, a.com looks way better than abcd.com.
In short, a domain with fewer letters is generally better.
